CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Shoshanna’s classes are based in what she calls Contemporary American Cabaret Style. Heavily rooted in Egyptian Arabic foundations, she teaches a muscularly based approach to give a good foundation for any dancer, regardless of the style she (or he) is interested in. Please bring WATER and a NOTEBOOK to all classes.

LEVEL 1 - BEGINNING:
Teens & adults, no prior experience needed. Learn the basic posture, body positioning, isolations, arms, fun party moves and more in this energetic class. People often repeat this class before moving on, as it’s very important to create an excellent foundation.

YA HABIBI CO. CLASS:
This advanced drill class is a “closed class,” but advanced dancers may drop in. Calling ahead is a good idea; this class is sometimes cancelled without notice if extra rehearsal is needed. Until Feb 9th, for example, we'll be all busy with rehearsal, so join us the following week.

This is a multi-level special topics class for all sorts of topics that don’t usually get covered in regular technique class, including guest teachers.... see below for more on the topics!

Session 1
Tribal Fusion
with
Vanessa

I'm thrilled to welcome former Lailaa Chandani and Tribalesque member Vanessa back with more fantastic Tribal Fusion for the Spring.

Vanessa has a wonderfully cool, stylish approach to Tribal Fusion and a warm, inviting teaching style that will give you an excellent workout and foundation in the Tribal Style.

& Discussions
with Shoshanna

I've been collecting lots of wonderful videos over the last couple of years and this is a chance to see them and discuss them! Many topics and styles.

So valuable for any dancer of any level. Beginners totally welcome.

We won't be dancing in this class. Dress warmly!

Session 3
Spicy Skirts &
Fabulous Fanwork
with Shoshanna

Journey with me onto a delightful fusion expedition as we delve into skirt and fan technique that will add flair and fun to your performances.

Some traditional, some wonderfully inventive movement drawn from my studies with Dalia Carella, Elena Lentini, and others...

Bring a full skirt and fan if you have one - some will be available to borrow.

Session 4
Choreography
Intensive
with Shoshanna

Each dancer will create two pieces of solo or duet choreography - one as a class assignment and one as a piece for the Spring Hafla.

We'll use games, exercises and critique to help you develop into a better choreographer and improvisational dancer.

Excellent for any Intermediate to Advanced dancers.

There will be homework!
